in regards to the Alice theory, especially with how we've seen that if something triggers the real memories it can remove the manipulation Armand did, it makes sense that eventually Daniel would put together the pieces on his own given enough time
but I think it would be absolutely hilarious if the way he found out was through nothing but spite
like I need there to be a scene (for whatever reason) of Armand at one of the tapings of Lestat's interview and they get into a little verbal sparring match because of course they do and (I would say without thinking but this is absolutely premeditated bc has to cause chaos everywhere he goes) Lestat just gives Armand the dirtiest side-eye and goes "Yeah, okay, Alice," and Daniel's brain just bluescreens for a good while.
#bc there's no way lestat didn't know armand could fuck around with people's memories and shit#like especially bc he can't communicate directly with louis#and it's quite obvious to me that lestat is used to communicating that way with armand bc he answered super quick in the flashbacks#so he's probably just been checking in silently every few days monitoring the situation#and he WOULD drop that information at the time he felt would be the funniest#interview with the vampire#amc iwtv#lestat de lioncourt#daniel molloy#armand#lestat iwtv#daniel iwtv#armand iwtv

In general the angst about mental silence between maker and fledgling and the way it's treated as an essential part of what makes vampire existence so lonely, far lonelier than human existence is SO funny. Bro you couldn't read the minds of your human friends either when you were human lmao. Use your words!!
most of these characters were bad at communicating when alive and just continue to be as vampires, except now they've been shown a glimpse of what real understanding and acceptance without any effort would feel like during turning and they keep chasing that high.
"oh i'm so lonely no one understands me" when have you last had a sincere conversation with another adult. Join a book club. Idk.
Having the ability to read eachother's minds didn't endear Armand and Lestat to each other at all. He saw that guy's entire lifestory projected into his mind and went 'can't relate.'
The idea of mindreading is more compelling than the reality of it between equals. And Armand and Daniel didn't break up because of their new mental silence for example. They broke up because Armand was as ass to Daniel post-turning, and we're shown that he tries to control him through hurting him emotionally (first victim; innocent runnaway. And then a stream of criticism that makes Daniel insecure) when he no longer has quite the same physical advantage and cannot control him mentally anymore by slipping into his mind. The relationship fails entirely sometime after during Daniel's bout of instability. But it's not about the silence at all.
Louis and Claudia resent Lestat for not telling them anything about the vampires in Europe. He's actually been threatened by Marius, who says he will kill all three of them if he tells. BUT. He never said Lestat couldn't tell them that he had been forbidden to tell them, that he wasn't telling them to keep them safe. Lestat didn't have to mention Marius' name even; he could just have taken their very obvious (no mindreading needed) feelings into account and said a powerful vampire threatened to kill all of them and would know if he told -- and it would have prevented a lot of anger directed at him.
That part of the New Orleans situation wouldn't even have been improved by mindreading as he wasn't allowed to show anything anyway. He literally just had to say something, to communicate in a normal human way that he wasn't withholding information to control them-- and he didn't. Augh!
#me reading the vc like SHUT UP ABOUT MINDREADING shut up that us not what is making you!!! lonely!!! dumbass#lestat de lioncourt#iwtv#armand#louis de pointe du lac#the vampire chronicles

Oh, boy, this might be a rough one, but I’ve got to ask. I’ve got a dear friend who’s a vampire(I’m human, but I think that would be obvious). They were turned, oh, a couple hundred years ago? They don’t really like to talk about it since it essentially happened without them choosing it. It was quite literally an accident on the part of the vampire who turned them. They don’t remember it, and they don’t know who exactly did it, so they can’t really find out what exactly happened, you know? (1/2)
I may not be the best Vampire to ask about not having the guidance of a maker, as my maker has always been a large, perhaps a bit too large, presence in this life.
But I understand what your friend may be going through. The senslessness of it all gets to me at times too. I was not cut out to be a killer, and I'd likely have gone into the sun long before I eventually did were it not for the young dependant daughter Lestat made to bind our little family together.
Your friend seems to be clinging to his humanity, as I did for two long centuries, causing myself immeasurable strife. He must accept his nature. We are not human. But that does not make us evil. Yes, we take life, as any predator must. And it causes the sensitive among us great strife. But we must. We are, as any creature is entitled to and worthy of satisfaction in this life.
Other Vampires, unfortunately, are the only ones who can truly help us to this conclusion.
Our lives, as eternal as they are, are no longer driven by all those little needs that give human life a purpose, nor do we have a forseeable end to give us a sense of urgency. We need something to give us purpose and direction. We need the guidance of community. People who share our experiences. Who understand our perspective.
Send your friend to Court. Chateau de Lioncourt, outside of Paris.
It's a strange place, and one I am not cut out for, but it is an invaluable resource for the abandoned fledge, like your friend. Someone may even know or be able to find your friends maker or brothers and sisters in the blood.
And now a bit of advice for you, my friend. And advice that may be hard to hear. Heed it as best you can, as I only want what's best for both of you. Friendship between my kind and yours ends in one of two ways, and neither are good. Either your friend will abandon you and watch you die slowly, or they will take you into the blood with them. If you do not be one one of us, your connection is doomed to be fleeting. Your friend will suffer your loss, and you as a mortal will never truly understand the fate we were dealt. You will both suffer if you remain together but are ever held apart by the difference in your natures.
But the alternative is.....unthinkable. Your friend may decide they cannot live without you and take you into the blood. The dark gift is a curse, and most given the blood come to despise their makers for taking their life, their soul, and for making them into monsters. And the fragile light between you would suffocate.
Or don't take my advice at all as I am fatalistic at times and no one else ever has.
